Donovan’s has two locations, one downtown and one in the Golden Triangle/UTC/La Jolla area.  We have eaten at both many times, and decided to go to the La Jolla location this time. Donovan’s is a traditional steak house that has historically served top-notch steaks, good sides and is highlighted by a comprehensive wine list.

Lou & Mickey’s is in a perfect downtown location. The restaurant offers steaks and seafood with a Midwestern flair. The steaks, while maybe not the best San Diego has to offer, are definitely good, in a little different type of atmosphere than the other steakhouses scattered around the county.
